“Things are getting done” celebratory giveaway!

Most of my posts here start off with some sort of ranting about how much life gets in the way of crafting. Well not today.

Life is still very much in the way of crafting, of course, but I’m managing to get some things done regardless. Over the last couple of months I have: had a go at tech editing a designer’s new pattern, added (admittedly basic) crochet to my crafting skillset, made a start on my first knitting pattern, made good progress on a crafting-related web project that people actually seem to want to use, put together a massive list of potential crafting-related WordPress plugins to build in future because I’m a nerd like that, and on top of all that I’ve decided to create a Ravelry group of my very own to keep track of all of the above.

After living with Boyfriend for almost exactly 5 months, the council even finally got round to issuing a council tax bill with both our names so I can prove I exist! Life is good.

This morning I was looking at my Ravelry wish list and wishing I could afford to buy everything on there, print out all the patterns, add them to my existing pile of ย patterns on the floor and roll around in them. While I can’t afford to do that, I’ve decided to get one lucky winner a step closer to that dream with a celebratory giveaway.

Prize: A randomly chosen pattern from your Ravelry wish list

Closing date: ย Midnight (GMT) August 30th 2013

Who can enter: Anyone with a Ravelry wish list containing three or more items

How to enter:ย Each person can earn up to two entries to the giveaway. First, you can comment on this post (with your Rav ID) . Secondly, you can come and play inย the Giddy Knitters Ravelry group. A post in any existing or new threads (as a group member) is all it takes to earn an entry.

While retweets and general social media shares are appreciated, they will not count as extra entries.

The winner will be chosen randomly after the closing date, and can look forward to a shiny new gifted pattern from their wish list (also chosen randomly) within the following few days.

What’s a Ravelry wish list?

I’m going to assume you’re at least aware of Ravelry, even if you’re not a member. When adding a paid downloadable pattern to your queue you’ll also see a checkbox asking if you’d like to add it to your wish list, this basically lets other users see which patterns you’re lusting after and choose what to gift you wisely. You can also add existing queued items to the wish list by editing them and looking out for the checkbox there too.

ravelry-wishlist

With Ravelry users being such a generous lot, it’s worth having something in this wish list just in case!

What if I posted in your group before seeing this?

That’s ok. Anyone posting there from today until the closing date will be automatically entered, giveaway details are also posted in the group for those who don’t make it as far as the blog.

Aw man, do I really have to join your group?

Nope. You can get one entry just by leaving a comment here with your Ravelry username. But I have other giveaways and general cool stuff planned for group members in future so maybe joining in wouldn’t be so bad after all ๐Ÿ˜‰

So there you go. Take advantage of my good mood, get your wish list in order, and make your presence here known!

What an uplifting post! I can totally relate to that feeling of never making progress. I have a shrug on the needles that is *this* close to being done, but I can’t seem to find the time to finish it!

Thank you for offering such a generous giveaway! (As for rolling in patterns, please know that you aren’t the only one who aspires to do this!)

You are so generous for spending money on other people, when it could be going toward your pattern-swimming-pool! I know the feeling of being super busy, moving and being semi-homeless for a while has meant I’ve barely had time to sit and knit. And oh, getting stuff from my wishlist would be a huge boost! I already have the yarn for every pattern on there, just haven’t gotten around to buying them yet!
